Acting to preserve and pass on expertise in excellence

Since its creation in 2017, Fondation Rémy Cointreau has been working to preserve intangible heritage by supporting general interest initiatives to showcase and convey invaluable savoir-faire and expertise.

By supporting the production of exceptional objects, handcrafted from materials gifted by the land, it extends the Group’s commitment to terroir, people and time.

The Fondation provides financial, technical and human support to exceptional craftsmen and to partners whose projects are aligned with the Fondation’s mission.

Manifesto

Fondation Rémy Cointreau’s commitment is to promote artisans who embody and perpetuate French heritage by sharing their excellent knowledge and know-how. It encourages excellence in innovative and sustainable practices that favor local terroirs which strongly support and appreciate environmental issues.

The Fondation gives a voice to exceptional craftsmen in its podcast
« Par la Main »

Launched in 2024, the “Par la Main” (By Hand) podcast explores the world of fine crafts through the testimonies of the foundation’s recipients.
In line with the missions of Fondation Rémy Cointreau, the podcast addresses the challenges, passions and successes of these exceptional craftsmen, highlighting the importance of transmission for the preservation of intangible cultural heritage.
The podcast also aims to encourage vocations among young people, promote the work of craftsmen and create a community of sharing and support for these exceptional skills.

Karen Grigorian

Master pleater
In his workshop, Karen creates hand pleating projects using materials such as fabric, leather, paper, wax, bronze and plastic. Fondation Rémy Cointreau helped him acquire four electric belts for a new oven.

Liza Bergara

Makhila manufacturer
Liza is the seventh generation of her family to devote themselves to making Makhilas. This heritage object from the Basque country is both a walking stick and a defensive weapon. Thanks to Fondation Rémy Cointreau, she was able to acquire a leather weaving machine.

Sophie Mouton Perrat & Frédéric Guibrunet

Paper sculpture designers
Sophie and Frédéric together form the duo Papier à êtres. In their studio, they work four-handed to create collections of lighting fixtures, sculptures and poetic accessories using papier-mâché, inspired by nature, fairy tales and films. Fondation Rémy Cointreau has supported them to maintain their activity while meeting the demands of their discipline.

Ludivine Loursel

Glass blower and art bronzer
Ludivine creates pieces somewhere between lighting, sculpture and objets d'art. Her creations are distinguished by the combination of two materials: metal and glass. Fondation Rémy Cointreau helped her acquire the equipment of a former glassmaker.

Agnès Sevestre

Chiseller and art bronzer
In her workshop, Agnès shapes objects, jewelry and sculptures in brass, copper and bronze. Fondation Rémy Cointreau supported her in enhancing students’ learning environment in her workshop.

Adrien Jaminet

Luthier and brass maker
Adrien creates and repairs trumpets inspired by the heritage of the great brass makers of the French school. He approached Fondation Rémy Cointreau for his project to research and develop the Piccolo trumpet.

Juliette Leperlier

Glass paste sculptor
After assisting her uncle and then her father for four years, Juliette took over the family workshop in 2014, devoting herself to creations inspired by organic and natural forms. She has applied for support from Fondation Rémy Cointreau to modernize her studio.

Hervé Obligi

Master of Art, expert in glyptics (fine stone engraving)
Hervé produces unique pieces and limited series, combining graphic design and precious materials. He is also renowned for his expertise in restoration. Fondation Rémy Cointreau helped him acquire a new slab saw.

Since its creation in 1993, the association Les Grands Ateliers de France has been dedicated to preserve and promote traditional French arts and crafts. In 2024, its 30th anniversary was marked by the "Bel Ouvrage" exhibition at the Orangerie du Sénat, an emblematic French place, bringing together 40 creators throughout the summer, with the support of Fondation Rémy Cointreau, among other partners.

Grands Ateliers

De l’Or dans les mains is a non-profit organisation aiming to restore reputation and value to manual trades by introducing the younger generation to the craft. Fondation Rémy Cointreau supports the association to develop workshops in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region’s secondary schools.

Located in Aubusson, the Cité internationale de la Tapisserie is an historic institution celebrating the art of tapestry weaving, deeply rooted in the region since the Middle Ages. Committed to the promotion of contemporary tapestry as well, the institution exhibits a new work of Philippe Druillet inspired by his comic strip "Salammbô", with the support of Fondation Rémy Cointreau.

Cite Internationale De La Tapisserie Aubusson

Lycée Vauban is a public secondary school offering a DN MADE (National Diploma in Fine Arts, Crafts and Design) in Metal Creation. Confronted with a problem of tooling, Fondation Rémy Cointreau supports the school’s project to produce itw own anvils and hammers. The long-term aim of this project is to benefit the entire community of gold and copper sculptors.

Lycee Vauban

The Association des Ateliers des Maîtres d’Art et leurs Élèves, founded in 2002, forms part of the French government’s Maître d’art-Élèves scheme. Fondation Rémy Cointreau supports this association in its initiatives to promote and pass on expertise in excellence.

Maître D'art Eleves

The Bureau du Design, de la Mode et des Métiers d’Art was created in 2005. It implements the city of Paris policy of promoting creative professions: fashion, design, arts and crafts. Fondation Rémy Cointreau supports this initiative as a patron of the Prix Savoir-faire en transmission awards.

Bdmma

The Institut pour les Savoir-Faire Français carries out missions to promote arts and crafts and heritage in France. Its actions are reflected in schemes such as the Maîtres d’art-Élèves title, the “Entreprise du patrimoine vivant” (EPV) label and many others. Fondation Rémy Cointreau supports the Prix Avenir Métiers d’Art award.
