CSR commitments
Each of Rémy Cointreau’s products is an expression of its terroir – a unique soil, a microclimate and a specific biodiversity.
The Group is committed to preserving these fragile ecosystems and handing on its expertise, built over generations.
Land has always been profoundly influenced by the climate. With global warming, Rémy Cointreau is facing a new challenge: adapting to the growing threat from more extreme weather and changing seasonal patterns.
That is why the Group is taking steps, on its estates and with its partners, to introduce agroecological practices and develop resistant varieties in order to protect its raw materials and promote more sustainable agriculture and viticulture practices. This is the ambition of its “New Generation Terroirs” initiative.

Achievements
Reducing the Group’s footprint with sustainable glass
Rémy Cointreau is taking a global approach to reducing the environmental impact of its glass packaging. In addition to reducing bottle weight and using recycled glass, the Group prioritises local suppliers, with 78% of our products manufactured and bottled in the country of purchase, thereby reducing our transport footprint and supporting the local economy.
The Group is driving glass decarbonization by partnering with glassmakers on innovative initiatives:
- In 2023, METAXA Angels Treasure bottles were produced using the Hrastnik pilot hydrogen furnace (−30% CO2)
- Use of Rémy Martin bottles produced in an Oxyfuel hybrid furnace (−20% CO2)
- Groundbreaking partnership with Verallia for 100% electric furnace production of white glass bottles in Cognac (−46% CO2).

Bruichladdich: Better water stewardship commitment
In Scotland, the Bruichladdich distillery is firmly committed to reducing water consumption and improving its stewardship practices, recognizing water’s essential role in both whisky production and the Isle of Islay’s coastal biodiversity.
The distillery has made major strides, aligning with the Scottish Whisky Association’s ambitions:
- Water cooling tower installed to cut water consumption by around 50% from May to August 2025;
- New ultrafiltration system to optimize treatment, minimize the use of chemical products and effectively remove organic minerals.

Biodiversity central to Rémy Martin’s “Pacte Centaure”
In spring 2025, the cognac house Rémy Martin launched the “Pacte Centaure”, an ambitious program to support its partner winegrowers’ agroecological transition by fostering biodiversity, preserving soils, and limiting inputs.
Among the Pacte’s ten actions, two specifically target biodiversity preservation:
- Conducting a detailed biodiversity assessment on each farm
- Preserving and diversifying ecological infrastructure with the aim of allocating 20% of agricultural land to these ecosystems.
Currently, 42% of partners have already benefited from the biodiversity awareness training provided by Vitinnov. In addition to this training, chambers of agriculture experts will help adapt these actions to local conditions.

Major advances in eco-designed packaging
Reduce: As part of its “In the Name of Mother Nature” program, Telmont has achieved a major technical feat, producing an 800-gram champagne bottle – previously 835 grams – without compromising its pressure resistance. After three years of rigorous testing, these lighter bottles were marketed in spring 2025, cutting CO2 emissions by 4% per bottle.
Reuse: In 2023, Cointreau and Mount Gay partnered with EcoSPIRITS to launch a closed-loop distribution system in the UK. Since then, 15,500 bottles have been replaced by reusable ecoTOTES. This initiative saved 11.8 tonnes of CO2 and cut packaging waste by 10 tonnes. It was deployed in the US in 2024-2025.
Recycle: In 2024, Bruichladdich launched its Luxury Re/Defined range with revolutionary, fully recyclable paper pulp packaging developed with James Cropper and its Colourform technology. Made with 100% renewable energy from sustainably managed forest fibers, this premium-designed lighter packaging reduces the carbon footprint by 90% compared to the previous presentation box.

The Rémy Cointreau group is community of women and men united by shared values: excellence in know-how, respect, and sustainable practices.
